Summer Camps
Welcome to Summer Camp at The Arts at Good Samaritan, 2012! We have eight weeks of exciting activities that children ages 6-12 are sure to LOVE! Music, Dance, Drama, Arts and Crafts, Outdoor games and so much more will get your kids out of the house and involved in activities with new friends.
This year we will exploring these themes during the weeks of June 11- August 10 (no camp the week of July 4)
Disney on Broadway- Students will learn songs/dances from The Lion King, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Students will produce different arts and crafts which connect to these musicals and to the creation of Broadway plays.
The Arts Around the World- Students will learn songs/dances that come from different places throughout the world including Bollywood dance, a traditional African dance, and traditional songs from several different countries. Students will produce traditional arts and crafts from each country that students learn about.
Party in the USA- Students will learn songs and dances from specific areas in the United States like the hula and line dancing. Students will learn songs and dances that are focused on American pride. Students will produce some traditional American crafts and artwork.
Under the Big Top- Students will spend the week learning about circus life including a juggling lesson, face painting, as well as learning circus themed dances and songs. Students will produce crafts like a Ringmasters costume and learning about typical circus animals.
Rock Stars- Students will live the life of a rock or pop star this week. Students will perform dances and songs of contemporary musicians. Students produce crafts like designing their own CD cover and writing a hit song.
Old Movie Musicals- Students will learn songs and dances from classic movie musicals like Singing in the Rain, The Music Man and West Side Story. Students will produce different arts and crafts which connect to these musicals and to the time when they were made. Students will choose and perform a skit from one of these movies at the end of the week.
A Visit to Oz- Students will learn songs, dances and skits from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz and Wicked. Students will produce arts and crafts that come from the magical Land of Oz. Students will choose and perform a skit from one of these movies at the end of the week.
Welcome to the 60s- Students will learn songs and dances from the classic musicals of the 1960’s including Hairspray and contemporary songs like the music of Elvis and the Beatles. Students will produce different arts and crafts which connect to this music and to the time when it was made.
